Discover Malta
Located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Malta is the largest island of the Maltese Islands, which includes the islands of Gozo and Comino. These islands also constitute the country of Malta, renowned for its rich history, spectacular architecture and breathtaking scenery. It features a wide range of historic sites such as numerous fortresses, megalithic temples, and a subterranean network of ancient burial chambers dating back to 4000 BC. Visitors can look forward to a number of fantastic activities including jumping on an island tour to view the sights, exploring fascinating museums and spending a relaxing day at one of Malta’s pristine beaches.
Valletta
Lying almost midway along Malta's northeast coast is the small walled city of Valletta, the island's capital city boasting heritage architecture, ancient sites and cultural festivals. The UNESCO-listed city boasts some beautiful Baroque churches, as well as numerous palaces and museums. History enthusiasts can delve further back in time by visiting the National Museum of Archaeology, and exploring this charming museum city, with its 320 monuments, all within 55 hectares, making it one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world. Other sights to see are the City Gate, Parliament Building, the Opera House, the dazzling Maltese Carnival, and the fantastic waterfront.
Gozo
One of the three largest inhabited islands of the Maltese
Archipelago, Gozo is known for its pristine beaches, ancient ruins, and
impressive network of hiking trails. Smaller than its sister, Malta, this
remote island has a serene, laidback atmosphere. The landscape features a breathtakingly beautiful coastline and picturesque countryside dotted with
ancient fortresses, Byzantine churches and sacred temples. Visitors can look
forward to excellent diving and snorkelling opportunities in crystal-clear
waters, visiting the unique ‘Inland Sea’ surrounded by dramatic limestone
cliffs, and lazing on photogenic red-sand beaches edged by the translucent
Mediterranean.

Weather
Malta’s climate is strongly influenced by the sea and is typical of the Mediterranean. The Islands have a very sunny climate with a daily average of five to six hours of sunshine in mid-winter to more than 12 hours in summer. Winters are mild, with the occasional short chilly period brought about by the north and north-easterly winds from Central Europe. Summers are dry and very sunny. Daytime temperatures in summer are often mitigated by cooling sea breezes, but in spring and autumn, a very hot wind from Africa occasionally brings high temperatures. Annual rainfall is low.
